1. What does "hosting"
mean?
Hosting a web site means to physically have that
site to reside on a very powerful computer, called a host,
which is connected to the Internet permanently by means
of ultra fast connections. Our hosting servers, located
in Dallas, Texas are only used for hosting purposes and
are state-of-the-art machines with the latest hardware
technology.
2. Which operating systems do you
install on your hosting servers?
For our shared hosting we use ONLY Linux
Red Hat with Apache server module installed. This set
up
is extremely
popular
worldwide
and is used by 95% of the Internet sites. It's renowned
for its stability and performance and is therefore considered
the best solution for Internet hosting. Our dedicated
servers come with a choice of either Linux or Windows.
3. Which Internet domain extensions
can you host on your servers?
Absolutely ALL Internet domain extensions! No
Internet domain, no matter its extensions, represents
a
problem for us.
4. How can I manage my Internet
site?
Every account is set up so that you have access
to the management of the entire web site. This is done
through a powerful Control Panel, which is packed with
features and extremely easy to use. You can view a demo
version of this Control Panel by clicking
here. Enter "demouk/demouk" to log-on. Every feature you
see in the demo is free to use and therefore available
to you at no extra cost. The only difference between
this
demo version and the real one we will set up for you
is that your Control Panel will reflect the correct parameters
of web space, bandwidth (data traffic) and all the other
services for the Hosting Package you choose.
5. I already have a site with another
hosting company I'm not happy with, how can I host it
with you instead?
This is a very simple and painless process. First
of all, you need to purchase a Hosting Package from our
shop matching your needs (click
here for a comparison table with all the features
and the prices). Then you need to access the Domain Control
Panel at the company you have registered your domain with
and change the DNS settings of your domain with the parameters
you will receive in your welcome email. If you do not
have access to the Internet Domain Panel you may also
consider transferring your Internet Domain to Hosting
studio as well, to regain control of it (please see our
Domains FAQ for the explanation of the procedure). Once
the DNS change has been submitted it takes up to a further
72 hours for all Internet provider databases to be updated,
knowing that your web site is now hosted by Hosting Studio.
Meanwhile, upload a perfect replica of your whole site
on our servers (using the details in your welcome email)
so that the transfer of host will be totally invisible
to your visitors.
6. Do you include any free Internet
domain in your Hosting Packages?
Some of our Hosting Packages have this option.
You can check our Hosting Packages
comparison table to see which ones of these include
a free Internet Domain. If your package includes a free
Internet Domain, please add all the relevant details of
who you want the domain to be registered to in the order
notes when you visit the shop and also please send an
email to domains@hostingstudio.net with these details.
You are entitled to a free Internet Domain with extension
.com, .net, .org, .it with the Hosting Midi package or
if you purchase a Hosting Maxi, Magnum, Royal or Supreme
package you can choose also .biz, .info, and .co.uk.
7. The package I have chosen includes
a free Internet Domain. As I don't need it at all, can
I have a discount on the price of hosting instead?
Our prices are already extremely competitive
so we cannot offer you any discount. Perhaps a friend
of yours needs a free Internet Domain as a nice gift?

8.Why on earth should I ever pay
for hosting my site when there are many free Internet
providers giving free hosting (sometimes even with unlimited
space)?
You should for a very simple reason: in the business
arena you always get what you pay for and nobody really
gives away anything for free!
Our expertise in this industry allows us to say (without
fear of being proved wrong) that the so called "free
providers" are not so "free" after all.
They may offer you free web space but may charge excessively
for registering an Internet Domain (or for any other added
hosting feature such as extra emails or database integration),
compensating for their "loss" this way.
The "free" providers also have the tendency
to saturate their hosting servers with an excessive amount
of users, thus slowing the speed of your site and creating
instability which could cause frequent downtime. Besides
this, many "free" providers only offer you basic
HTML support, no extra included or available at high charges.
At Hosting studio we can indeed state (without any false
modesty or presumptuousness) that you will never find
a "free" provider which will offer you our same
wealth of features and free extras which we include in
EVERY hosting package! And remember: our packages are
very competitively priced, starting from only €20
per year!
9. Can I use Front Page extensions
with your servers?
Yes, you can! You can install them yourself from
the Control Panel of your domain.
10. Can I use CGI scripts with
my site?
Our servers fully support CGI scripts. You can
use ANY cgi script with the exception of the following:
Proxy Servers, nph-proxy, The Anonymizer, UltimateBB,
Ikonboard, Greymatter (all versions), IRC Egg Drops &
IRC related programs (chat software), formmail.pl, lstmrge.cgi,
Shell, SSH, Telnet Scripts and Shell, SSH, Telnet alternatives
and any script which requires an unreasonable amount of
flat files to be used with it. If you are thinking of
using any of these scripts, please
contact us and we will be pleased to show you suitable
alternatives which don't present security risks.
11. Can I use PHP or a mySQL
database?
Sure you can! Our servers support both. You
can easily manage the database from your Control Panel.
12. How can I pay for my Hosting
package?
For all residents outside UK and Italy (for which
a bank transfer is available as well) you can pay only
by credit card directly through our shop.
Italian residents, as well as all the other payment methods,
can also pay by a cheque or postal giro. In EACH case,
please note that your account will be set up ONLY upon
receipt of your payment and a faxed countersigned copy
of our Terms and Conditions.
13. Is there any account set up
fee?
Absolutely not! There's no account set up fee
whatsoever. Every account is set up for free within
24
hours from receipt of your payment and the countersigned
fax of our Terms and Conditions.
14. How does your "30 day
money back guarantee" work?
In a very simple and crystal clear way: if within
30 days from the set up date for your account you are
not entirely satisfied with our services you can opt for
the 30 day money back guarantee, without giving any explanation
and you will be sent your money back. If, however, your
Hosting package includes a free domain we will deduct
the registration fee of €10.50 per year (so €21
for a .biz. .info or .co.uk domain which have a minimum
of two year registration) for the costs incurred in registering
your free domain, which will indeed remain yours even
after cancellation. This commercial decision is in place
solely for the purpose of discouraging any unscrupulous
individuals who may pretend to purchase a Hosting Package
with a free domain just to cancel it straight after, thinking
that they may get away with obtaining a free Internet
domain. Please note that, together with your money back,
you will also be emailed the password to manage the domain
and change its DNS settings in order for you to move to
a different hosting provider.
